We are proud to announce that the 10th edition of the RSS Conference has the patronage of PIARC – World Road Association and that a new workshop has been organized:
The PIARC Safe System Approach: new insights in the fourth edition of the Road Safety Manual
This workshop will focus on the latest updates to the PIARC Road Safety Manual (RSM), emphasizing its new features, technical depth, and practical applications aimed at advancing towards the worldwide adoption of the Safe System Approach.
Participants will be introduced to the evolution of the manual, which builds upon the foundations of the 1st edition of the RSM (2003) while integrating contemporary knowledge, advanced methodologies, and up-to-date guidelines on road safety. The 4th edition of the RSM (2025) includes more comprehensive technical content and supporting documents that reflect the latest international best practices.
Through presentations and discussions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the structure, content, and key innovations of the updated manual, and learn how it can be effectively applied to strengthen road safety management, guide infrastructure projects, and inform policy decisions across different contexts, ultimately contributing to safer and more sustainable roads.
Ready to shape the future of road safety? Join us in the city of Naples for the 10th International RSS Conference, hosted by the University of Naples Federico II. The Conference will bring together global experts, researchers, and innovators to explore the latest advancements in road safety and sustainable mobility. Let’s come together to rethink mobility and save lives. Submit your abstract, share your vision, and be part of the global movement towards a safer road future!
The conference theme is “Advancing Towards the Safe System Approach”. The Conference aims to explore how the Safe System Approach has been embraced by the transportation community as an effective way to prevent fatalities and serious injuries on our roadways. The program will cover all the Safe System Approach elements to capture the latest trends in emerging road safety technologies, surrogate measures of safety, augmented and virtual reality, big data, modeling, and simulation that have contributed to build and reinforce multiple layers of protection to both prevent crashes and minimize the harm caused to those involved when crashes do occur.
A warm thank you to the research community for the notable interest in the conference.
